The final milestones before construction can begin are now in place, as the plans for the first phase of development has been approved by the Village of Hempstead, allowing for groundbreaking in the Spring of 2015. This first phase will consist of 336 market rate residential units that have been designed in a manner to provide affordability relative to other new residential developments. In addition, the developer is working with local property owners that will enable the development of a mixed-use project on Main Street, near the train station, that will include retail and commercial on the ground floor and mixed-income residential above. Even better, Hempstead residents will have priority for these apartments, following through on the developer’s pledge to provide for our community first and foremost.
